Rita and Mathias’s story is a heartfelt adventure that eventually led to the birth of Outside Coast.

It all kicked off in the summer of 2022, when they swiped right on each other in Peniche, Portugal — an idyllic coastal town famous for its surf culture and chill vibe. What started as a casual “HELLO” quickly turned into something more meaningful as they swapped messages and stories across the miles, proving that sometimes, digital chemistry can lead to real-life sparks.

A few months later, Rita hopped over from Portugal to Innsbruck, Austria, for their first face-to-face meet-up. The chemistry was so undeniable, even the Alps seemed to cheer them on. Amidst the stunning mountain scenery, they clicked instantly — like two slice of bread with something in between, but crunchy and toasted. From that moment on, their relationship became a whirlwind of shared adventures — meeting every month in different spots, flying back and forth between Portugal and Austria, each rendezvous fuelling their bond and sparking new ideas (and probably some airport snacks).

As their connection deepened, so did their entrepreneurial spark. They dreamed up a brand that fused their passions: a brand rooted in authenticity, sustainability, and community — basically, the coolest trio since peanut butter, jelly, and a good sense of humor. This vision turned into OUTSIDE COAST — a lifestyle brand born out of a desire to empower people who feel “out of the box” (or just out of their pijamas).
